Chromebook Installation

If you are receiving the message "Debian package installs are no longer supported" when trying to install Moneyspire on your Chromebook, please follow the instructions below:

Passo 1

  1. Open your Chromebook Settings.
  2. Click About ChromeOS in the left sidebar.
  3. Locate Linux development environment and click Set up.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts.
  5. Choose a username and disk size (the defaults are fine).
  6. Click Install and wait a few minutes for the setup to complete.
  7. A black Terminal window will automatically open when finished.

Passo 2

  1. Open the ChromeOS Files app and locate your downloaded .deb file.
  2. Drag and drop (or copy and paste) that .deb file into the Linux files section in the left-hand sidebar.
  3. Open the Terminal app from your Chromebook's app launcher.
  4. Click on Penguin to open the main command prompt.
  5. Type the following command, making sure to replace filename.deb with the exact name of the file you moved into your Linux files folder:
sudo dpkg -i filename.deb

Press enter to install Moneyspire. Once the installation is complete, you will find Moneyspire in your Chromebook’s app launcher under Linux apps.

Before running Moneyspire, you will need to enter two more commands in Terminal. Type the following command, and press enter:

sudo apt install libunwind8

Finally, type the following command and press enter:

sudo apt install libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0

Now you should be able to launch Moneyspire from the App launcher on your Chromebook.
